Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 August 2026
Trickly is used by children and by parents helping them. That places a higher duty on us than on an ordinary website, and this policy is written to be read and understood, not to be hidden behind.
The short version
- We collect the least information we can: a name, a grade, and a way to contact you.
- We never show advertising to children and we never sell personal data to anyone.
- Homework photos you upload are used to answer that question and are deleted within 24 hours.
- We do not use your data, your child's work, or your photos to train artificial-intelligence models.
- You can ask us to delete everything we hold about you at any time, and we will.
1. Who we are
Trickly ("we", "us") operates the website at trickly.in and the Trickly applications. For the purposes of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "DPDP Act"), we are the Data Fiduciary responsible for the personal data described in this policy.
Registered entity: TO BE CONFIRMED — registered entity name. Registered address: TO BE CONFIRMED — registered office address. You can reach our privacy contact at grievance@trickly.in.
2. What we collect
We collect only what a feature actually needs.
- Account information — name, grade or class, and an email address or mobile number. If a parent account is created, we also record which child accounts it is linked to.
- Learning activity — which shortcuts you have opened or marked as learnt, practice answers, XP, streaks and badges. If you use Trickly without an account, this is stored only in your own browser and never reaches us.
- Homework questions — the photo, voice recording or text you submit to Ask Trickly, and the explanation we return.
- Technical information — IP address, browser type and pages visited, used to keep the service secure, to prevent abuse and to fix faults.
We do not collect precise location, contact lists, photographs beyond those you deliberately submit, or any biometric data.
3. Children's data — our strictest commitments
Under the DPDP Act a "child" is anyone under the age of 18. Because most of our learners are children, the following applies across almost the whole service.
- Parental consent. A child's account must be created or approved by a parent or lawful guardian, who provides verifiable consent for us to process the child's personal data.
- No advertising to children, ever. We do not run behavioural or targeted advertising to children, and we do not carry third-party advertising or ad-tracking pixels anywhere on the service.
- No behavioural tracking or profiling of children beyond what is needed to show a child their own progress.
- Nothing that could harm a child's wellbeing. We do not use engagement mechanics designed to keep a child on the service — in fact Trickly interrupts after thirty minutes and encourages the child to go and play.
A parent may at any time review, correct or delete their child's data, or withdraw consent, by writing to grievance@trickly.in.
4. Why we use it
We process personal data only for these purposes:
- to provide the lessons, practice and progress tracking you asked for;
- to answer the homework questions you submit to Ask Trickly;
- to show a parent their own child's progress;
- to take payment and provide the paid plan, where you choose one;
- to keep the service secure, prevent abuse and comply with the law;
- to reply to you when you contact us.
We do not use personal data for any other purpose without asking you first.
5. Ask Trickly and artificial intelligence
When you submit a photo, recording or question to Ask Trickly, the content is sent to our artificial-intelligence provider solely to generate your explanation. It is processed to answer that one question and returned to you.
- Uploaded photos are deleted within 24 hours.
- Your questions and your child's work are not used to train any AI model.
- Voice recognition happens in your own browser wherever your device supports it, meaning your voice usually never leaves your phone.
AI can make mistakes. Explanations are a study aid and should be checked against your child's textbook and teacher.
7. How long we keep it
- Homework photos: deleted within 24 hours.
- Account and learning data: kept while your account is open, and deleted within 30 days of you closing it.
- Payment records: retained for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Security logs: kept for up to 90 days.
8. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you and why;
- have inaccurate data corrected, and incomplete data completed;
- have your data erased;
- nominate another person to exercise these rights if you are unable to;
- withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it;
- complain to us, and then to the Data Protection Board of India if you are not satisfied.
To exercise any of these, write to grievance@trickly.in. We respond within 30 days.
9. How we protect it
All traffic is encrypted in transit. Access to the database is restricted by row-level security so that an account can only ever read its own records. Secrets are held server-side and never exposed to the browser. We apply rate limits and abuse controls to every sensitive endpoint.
If a personal-data breach occurs, we will notify affected users and the Data Protection Board of India as required by law.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy materially, we will say so on this page and, where the change affects how we use your data, tell you directly before it takes effect.
